Preview: Cops In Search For Second Round first Win

After a seven day action of Uganda Cup round of 32, the UPL returns for match-day 19, including a home tie for Police who host Tooro United at Lugogo.

Since the kick off of the second round in early February, Police are yet to register a win – They have managed two draws and a loss against Arua Hill. Actually they last won a game on January 4th, which was a 1-0 win against UPDF.

However, they will draw inspiration from their hard fought win they got in their Uganda cup round of 32 tie last Friday, against fellow UPL outfit Gaddafi FC.

Despite being 10th on the log with 18 points, they are still a relegation threatened side, as they are just two points above a tight red zone.

This is going to be Marvin Oshaba’s first test against his former bosses, after leaving them at the end of January Transfers and Tactician Abdullah Mubiru is very much aware the significance of this encounter.

“We very well know that they on form, they are playing well since the kicking of second round, but we have tried to fix and strengthen ourselves to see that we get those points tomorrow because we know that we not safe, so we need to correct more points which can enable us to stay in the league,” he said.

For Visiting rock bottom Tooro United, they will need to put the Ugx 500000/= fine slapped to them over using unbranded Jerseys and Uganda Cup loss behind in, to order to refocus on their slim chances of Survival.

Surprisingly, Tooro are yet to loose a game since second round, they collected five points in three games compared to the only four corrected in the entire first round.

However the side is yet to register even a single away win this season, and they last got a point away at Police, way back in 2017, after their comfortable 0-3 win that season.

But under the new coach in Ibrahim Kirya, the roaring lions will also be looking forward to revenge their 3-1 first round defeat against Police played in December last year at Buhinga.

Its one of the few encounters in Uganda premier league, that has never produced a goalless scoreline.
