Police FC eased past Tooro United’s to record its first win in the second round thanks to a 4-2 victory at Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Police had not won a single game since second round started while the loss snaps Tooro’s unbeaten start in the second round.
Marvin Oshaba who joined Police From Tooro, scored his first goal at Police, against his former pay masters.
Tonny Maweje, Juma Balinya and Herman Wasswa were also on target for the Peace Keepers.
Ronald Magwali and Husein Mwanje scored the only two goals for the Roaring lions, but their efforts were not enough as the Visitors succumbed to a set back in their quest to survival.
Hosts dominated proceedings straight away and in just six minutes into play, Balinya opened the scores after making a beautiful turn off Ruben Kimera’s cross, to bag his 9th goal of the season.
Eight minutes later, Kenneth Madira nearly levelled matters but he decided to go for a beauty instead, before he knew it he was already covered by defenders who blocked his efforts.
Again Madira was presented with another opportunity but he fouled Tom Ikara in their one on one situation as he was trying to flip the ball over him.
In the 26th minute, substitute Magwali who came in for injured Madira in 20th minute, levelled matters from a rebound off Musa Doca’s initial effort which was to heavy for Ikara to handle, thanks to Muhammad Nsereko’s teasing free kick.
In the 38th minute, unmarked Mawejje reclaimed host’s lead with a beautiful free header off Kimera’s brilliant corner kick.
At the stroke of first half, Oshaba punished his former side with a free header off yet another Kimera’s cross to extend hosts’ lead for his first goal in cops colors.
Ten minutes into second half, Emmanuel Mugume, nearly made it four but his last shot after displaying nice footwork which saw him dribble past defenders, was saved by the woodwork.
Substitute Mwanje, brought visitors back in the game when he converted the penalty following Yusuf Ssozi’s foul on Faisal Kazibwe, to make it 3-2, as pressure mounted on the Cops.
Tonny Kiwalazi nearly scored in his own goal but Ikara came to rescue when he cleared the ball with his left foot at near post.
Substitute Herman Wasswa put it far from Tooro reach when he netted in the fourth – He accompanied his nice footwork with a cool finish which beat Lukyamuzi at far post to end Tooro’s second round unbeaten run.
Police remain 10th on the log but with five points clear off the red zone on 21st and they will visit Busoga in their next fixture.
For Tooro, they remain rock bottom, stuck on 9 points from 19 games and they will host table leaders vipers in their next fixture.
