The first edition of the Kawempe Mile run climaxed successfully on Saturday at Blend Gardens in Bwaise.
Tom Dradiga (Men) and Knight Achiro (Women) won their respective categories for the run that was aimed at raising more awareness against Gender based violence and abuse.

Dradiga was the first to cross the line, finishing with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 33:82 seconds.
He beat off resistance from Farid Wabulwa (4:34:77) and Louis Niwagaba (4:35:32) who came second and third in the order.
Achiro who won the Women’s category in a time of 5:16:88, edged Jenipher Nyakato (5:31:74) who settled for second place.

Evas Nasasira (5:39:72) came third to complete the podium slots in Women category.
The winners in respective categories scooped Sh1m in prize money.
The Race organisers also targeted to inspire many kids and adults all around Uganda to take up middle distance running all the way to 400m.
After the success of the inaugural edition, the organisers have also vowed to make the Kawempe Mile Run a yearly event.
