Vipers SC took a long trip to Northern Uganda as they face Kalongo United FC on Saturday at the round of 32 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The Venoms needed a late Yunus Sentamu strike to oust Kigezi HomeBoyz earlier this week on Monday in Kabale in one of the pending round of 64 games.
Back on the road again, they face another task far away from home against Kalongo United FC that plays in the FUFA regional league.
“It was a long journey to reach here but we are prepared for the game. We been working really hard towards it. So that we go back home with a good result,” Goalkeeper Jack Komakech told the club’s media on Friday.
It’s almost full house for Vipers as they welcome Bobosi Byaruhanga and Abdul Karim Watambala back, who have been suffering from injuries and malaria respectively. The two said players missed the previous game against Kigezi but traveled with the team to Kitgum.
Despite being favourites on paper given their depth in squad and quality, Vipers will go all out in search for another important win so as to advance to the next stage.
Last season, the Kitende based side thrashed Bul FC by 8-1 in the finals held at Njeru to clinch their second Uganda Cup in club history.
Meanwhile on the other hand, the hosts will be targeting to make history when they host the Venoms at their home ground in Kalongo.
To reach this far, they edged Adjumani Town Council FC by 1-0 last month at the round of 64, thanks to Awobe Oret strike.
Playing home against a Uganda Premier league side Vipers, a big task awaits them and they will need to be at their best if they are to pick something positive against a club that has sights on defending the title.
