Stanbic Uganda Cup: Mbarara City Target Revenge Against URA

Inconsistent Mbarara City is plotting a Revenge against URA when the two sides meet at the round of 32 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Kakyeka Stadium.

The Ankole Lions were eliminated by the Tax Collectors last season, at this very stage!

Brian Majwega scored the all important goal in the 13th minute from the rebound after his initial penalty was saved to eliminate Mbarara City at Kakyeka last year.

It is also important to note that Mbarara City has already lost to URA FC in the league – Shafic Kagimu and Ibrahim Dada scored a goal each as URA won 2-0 at the Arena of Visions.

The Ankole Lions who has seen a drop in form, will bank on home advantage after they waived Entry fee for next two games at Kakyeka.

Initially the game was scheduled for Thursday 24th February but was moved to Saturday 26th after the hosts Mbarara City FC asked for the postponement of the game as their home ground Kakyeka stadium was under use by Mbarara District Council.

To reach this stage, Mbarara City overcame Western Regional League side Six O’clock 2-1 in the Round of 64.

Jude Ssemugabi gave Mbarara City an early lead before Seiri Arigumaho won it for the Ankole Lions after Ojok David had equalised for the hosts Six O’clock.

In the league, Mbarara City lost 1-0 to Gadaffi FC at the Gadaffi Arena courtesy of Andrew Waiswa last minute penalty in their last fixture.

The Ankole Lions sit 14th on the league table and in the relegation zone with 16 points, they are winless in their last five games.

The Ankole Lions will be without Karim Ramathan who picked an injury in training while Sempa Charles and Bebe Swalik Ssegujja are all available for selection after missing the 1-0 loss to Gadaffi FC.

To progress to the Round of 32, URA Eased past West Nile Regional League side Total FC with a 4-0 win.

Ibrahim Dada scored a brace and a goal each from Viane Ssekajuko and Shafik Kagimu inspired the Tax Collectors to Victory.

URA FC will bank on their record against Mbarara City that has seen them win thrice wins, seven draws and one defeat.

They are third on the log with 34 points in the league, they have won all but lost only game in their last 5 games.

URA comes into this game with confidence after a 5-0 Victory over Wakiso Giants in the league – Viane Ssekajuko scored four and Substitute Kabon Living netting the other.
