NEC FC Bugolobi coach Michael ‘Skills’ Lukyamuzi is set to be banned by FUFA after controversial comments after he was dumped out of this season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup on Tuesday.
Kampala Regional League side NEC FC lost 1-0 to Mbale Heroes on Tuesday at San Siro Stadium in Mbale to miss a slot in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16
Lukyamuzi, in the post match interview, let emotions get the best of him as he criticised the match officials.
He questioned the day’s officiating which he branded as “very ugly”.
“Referees killed the game. They have spoilt football in the entire Uganda, you see they even changed the pitch we were supposed to play on and they brought us in the village to in order to cheat us,” ranted Lukyamuzi.
“Everyone has seen how events unfolded on the pitch. Even we had a goal that was wrongly canceled for offside, yet it was a ball from the keeper. That’s not football and it was very very ugly from the referees.”
It is said that Lukyamuzi is a UEFA D license holder from Germany!
NEC FC lost 1-0 Mbale Heroes couryesy of James Mubeezi’s 25th minute header off Sande Yiga’s corner kick.
The Visitors earlier in the game, conceded a dramatic penalty decision, which was saved by Goalkeeper when he denied Fahad Nsamba in the opening five minutes of the game.
NEC FC, who lead Scorpion group in Kampala Regional League, have been unbeaten in all competition this season.
For Mbale Heroes they join UPDF, Wakiso Giants, Iganga Yong, and Ndejje University who have so far qualified to the round 16.
Lukyamuzi Inks Apology:
The gaffer, through his Twitter, admitted that he was a bad loser and stated that his shameful acts will never happen again.
“Yesterday I said a lot of uncalled for words out of anger blaming the refs for the result. I think it was a very bad gesture for a coach of my stature, it was entirely out of anger, it hurt many people in the football fraternity. I am really sorry for my comments on the day, we lost the game and that’s football. It was my first loss in 20 games so it got so much over me. It will never happen again In football one wins and one loses, I was a bad loser on the day and am sorry to the referees of the day. The Referees Association of Uganda I am really sorry. It can never happen again.”
