Talented UPDF FC Youngster Sabir Yassin scored the only goal to help his side eliminate Impala Hill in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 match at Bombo Barracks ground.
Born in Arua on 7th July 2005 by Mr Yassin Wakka and Mrs Jumiya Anderu, Sabir spoke exclusively to The-SportsNation about his football career and ambitions.
The Youngster fell in love with football at Young Dreams Soccer Academy in Naguru.
The goal against UPDF, was his second goal in the domestic Cup after he was on target in a 3-0 victory over North East Regional League side Soroti FC in the Round of 64.
“It’s obvious I felt so good to score the winning goal, first of all I want to thank God, My coaches and my teammates because without them it wouldn’t have happened, I feel so good for that,” Sabir told The-SportsNation.
“It means a lot, I am very happy and the team is happy as well it was one of the best moments in my life I have dreamt of such moments.”

From Naguru’s Young Dreams Soccer Academy, Sabir has also had a stints at Naguru Police, Proline, Prowess Sports Academy, Soccer For Life, Kampala Junior Team and Synergy.
“I was born to play soccer and I knew it was my thing, I grew up from Naguru where there are a lot of talented kids some are playing boxing and some cricket.”
Sabir made his debut for the Army side in a 2-1 win over Busoga United at the Bombo Military Barracks Ground replacing Mugisha Rogers in the 73rd minute.
But his side are winless in the league in nine games.
“It’s obvious you can’t feel well when your not winning but in football the first target is to have a positive mindset even when things aren’t right, I think things can change if we have faith and believe in ourselves,” added the youngster.

The winger scored his first league goal against Vipers in the 7-2 humiliation in the 51st minute after coming on for Mugisha Rogers at the start of the second half.
He revealed his targets: “My target is to first of all win the games because that’s what we play for, I want to score more goals, assist as much as I can and also make some good dribbles because its my thing and I love it so much.”
The 16-year old who turns 17 in July joined UPDF at the start of the season from Synergy.
He explained how he joined UPDF FC: “Whenever someone asks me this question I want to say thank you God for manager Brian Ssenyondo for giving me this chance to play for this nice team UPDF.
“But it all started from St John’s Kauga where we played for the school team and he was the school team manager. He always believed in me, gave me a chance not forgetting also my friends especially Mickey, Remy Cabella and others.”
On his dreams, he added: “My dream is to be a great Soccer player in and out of my country and also represent my national team, carry the World Cup for my country and achieve what football owes to any other player playing football”.
“I love Ronaldinho and Neymar because when I see them I see myself, I love what they do with the ball and I feel like I can literally be like them.
“I don’t have any local role model unless my young cousin Zidane Manshur who plays for El Cambio Academy in Masaka.”
