There will be renew of acquaintances when Wakiso Giants face off with Kyetume in the Stanbic Uganda cup round of 32 on Tuesday at Kabaka Kyabagu stadium in Wakiso.
The two sides competed for the top spot when they were both still playing in the Big league division in the 2019/2020 season.
And in March 2019, Kyetume eliminated Wakiso Giants in the quater final round of the Uganda cup via shootouts, and the hosts will be seeking for revenge.
The Wakiso Giants head coach Alex Gitta has put a side the rivalry between both sides and has tasked his boys to go out and fight for positive results in the game.
“The rivalry created in the Fufa Big League doesn’t matter at the moment but our primary focus is on getting the result that will take us to the next round,” said coach Alex Gitta.
Wakiso Giants come into this game after suffering a 5-0 thumping against URA FC at home.
“It’s a game that will rebuild the confidence and morale of the players if we win and that’s the main target tomorrow.
“Our target in the competition is to go as far possible and we gave ourselves a target of five games to play.”
Wakiso Giants will be delighted with the return of Edward Satulo, Titus Ssematimba and Hassan Ssenyonjo from injuries but they will miss Shariph Kimbowa, Hassan Wasswa Dazo and Simon Namwanja due to injuries.
Kyetume sit 4th on the Big league table and coach David Mutono has belief in his players after “preparing them well” to face off with the premier league amidst facing some difficulties.
The club has barely trained with players reportedly staging a strike due to unpaid arrears.
“We have prepared well and the squad is in good shape though we have some issues but our main target is to win the match and we progress to the next round,” said coach David Mutono.
Kyetume will miss a couple of players due to injuries but their coach is confident with squad he has got to the job.
Baker Buyala, Kasoki Vicent, Mubiru Patrick, and Saaka Yusuf are all out injured.
This will be the 8th meeting between both sides and they have only managed one win against each other with six draws coming along the way.
