Preview: Another ‘War’ As KCCA meet Onduparaka

It will be yet an pulsating affair as KCCA FC welcome Onduparaka at the Omondi Stadium Lugogo on Saturday.

The two sides will be meeting for the third time in the league this season! Their first match was abandoned on December 27 2021 in added time when home fans stormed the Greenlight Stadium in Arua to protest Referee Ronald Madanda’s decision to award KCCA FC a late penalty.

The game was 2-2 before it was called off. The federation ordered for the whole match to be replayed at a neutral venue – Bombo Military Barracks ground, something KCCA never welcomed.

In the rescheduled fixture, the two sides shared spoils after a 1- all draw at Bombo at earlier this month on 3rd February. Dennis Iguma had put KCCA ahead in the 17th minute before Filbert Obenchan connected into his own net in the 38th minute to see the game end in a draw.

Back at home in front of their fans, the Kasasiro Boys will feel that it’s time to pay back their fans with a win against the stubborn Caterpillars.

Ahead of the game, head coach Morley Byekwaso predicted a tough contest but is hopeful they will get the the job done.

“We are expecting to put in a lot in tomorrow’s game because if we want to be Champions, we need to win every game infront of us. The game is not going to be an easy one but we shall do our best so that we perform well,” Byekwaso told the club’s media on Friday.

Byekwaso’s only worry will be the low scoring return of his men in the past league games.

However, following Vipers draw against UPDF on Friday, KCCA have a chance to close the gap to one point if they pick maximum points against the West Nile based side.

On the other hand, Onduparaka come a more motivated side having won their last game against Busoga United 3-1 to return to winning ways.

Skipper Mohamad Shaban who scored a brace in the last league outing will be making a return to Lugogo against his former pay masters.

“We corrected a few mistakes in our previous game against Busoga United even though we won. Against KCCA, I know it won’t be an easy game but we as the players we are well prepared to see that we can get a good result in Lugogo,” Shaban told Onduparaka media on Friday.

Onduparaka, who have never picked any point at Lugogo, losing all the five games will want to prove a point inorder to break the Lugogo jinx on Saturday.

Sitted in the 12th position with 17, the Caterpillars who are not yet safe from the danger area will have all eyes on picking some positive result away from home to add on their tally.
