KCCA FC 3-1 Onduparaka FC
KCCA registered a 3-1 win over Onduparaka in a league game held at the Mtn Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday to move within a point adrift leaders Vipers.
Herbert Achai’s first half goal and second half goals from Usama Arafat and Hassan Jurua ensured that the Kasasiro Boys bagged all the three points on the day.
Baden Mujahid scored the only goal for Onduparaka as they lost all the three points away from home.
It is a sweet revenge for KCCA, who had to honor a replay game at Bombo after the first fatch in Arua was abandoned after the home fans invaded the pitch.
Playing at home, KCCA dominanted straight away as the Visitors sat at the back to catch them at the break.
Earlier they had plenty of chances to score first but missed on many occasions as Yasser Mugerwa sent his free kick wide, Usama saw his deflected ball saved for a corner before Erisa Ssekisambu shot wide when inside the area.
And finally in the 35th minute, Achai curled in a beautiful free kick after Ashraf Mugume was fouled outside the area to put his side ahead.
For Onduparaka who were at the receiving end, Baden Mujahid had the best chance but the pacy winger shot wide while in the area when KCCA was caught at the break.
At the restart of the second half, Onduparaka scared first but Muhamad Shaban saw his volley hit the cross bar as the Visitors kept on pushing for the equaliser.
But KCCA remained composed and the introduction of wingers Brian Majwega and Rogers Mato brought in more life in their attacking force.
And in the 59the minute, Usama made it two scoring from a rebound after Davis Kasirye’s initial shot had been saved by Onduparaka goalkeeper Kagiri Micheal.
However, despite going two goals down, the Visitors had a fair share of chances to score but they looked blunt on many occasions while in the final third.
With seven minutes to play, Mujahid scored a screamer that left goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan looted on his ground to halve the deficit.
His goal had brought in more hopes for Onduparaka to make a come back as they lanched numerous attacks in search for the leveller.
However, Jurua scored in added time to make it three with his long range effort beating goalkeeper Kagiri to enter into the back of the net.
Victory ensured that KCCA move to 39 points and are now just a single point below current tables leaders Vipers SC.
For Onduparaka, they suffer their seventh defeat in the season and remain in the 12th position with 17 points.
