Saturday – Super Cup (T20)
•Aziz Damani Vs Ceylon Lions – 2pm
All is set for the National Men’s 50-over Cricket league that will bowl off this Sunday at Entebbe Oval when Wanderers face SKLPS in the opener.
The league returns after two years following the Covid19 pandemic.
Aziz Damani were the winners of the 2019 season, beating Challengers to the title then.
However, Uganda Cricket Association has organised a T20 curtain raiser between Aziz Damani who won the Division One and Ceylon Lions who won the Division Two title in 2019.
The match will be played on Saturday at Lugogo Cricket Oval where the prize giving ceremony that has been pending for the last two years will be held.
The League that returns with a couple of improvements, will be played until July 2022.
The shortened Division One season will see nine teams face off in a one-leg round robin.
Each club will only be permitted to have not more than four national team players (those who have had at least a cap since 2021).
The top flight will be played at four venues – Lugogo, Entebbe, Kyambogo, Jinja and Serenity oval (Kyambogo).
At the end of the season, two bottom teams will be relegated while two will be promoted from the top two from Division Two.
Aziz Damani who ended Tornado B’s three year dominance to also win three on a trot, will be the side to beat.
They will start their title defense against Kutchi Tigers on February 27 at Lugogo.
