Preview: Its a big game against Police FC but we will aim for maximum points – coach Paul Kiwanuka
Bright Stars will take on Police FC in the Startimes Uganda Pemier League game at Kavumba recreational centre in Wakiso.
Only two points separate Bright Stars (15 pts) who sit 14th in relegation zone from Police (17 pts) who are 10th on the log.
Bright Stars head coach Paul Kiwanuka anticipates a tougher tie as both teams have the same targets and goals.
“It is a tough game against Police FC because we are both in the same boat but we know what we want and our target is to collect maximum points against them,” said coach Kiwanuka.
Bright Stars lost the first round tie 5-0 in Lugogo – Goals from Juma Balinya, Herman Wasswa, Eric Senjobe, Muwadda Mawejje and Emmanuel Mugume were enough for Abdallah Mubiru’s charges.
Kiwanuka added: “We have prepared well for Police FC, in the first round we had one of the worst performances against them as we conceded five goals in Lugogo. We want to avoid the same mistakes tomorrow.”
Bright Stars will hope to build on their recent 2-1 away win against SC Villa as they mount their bid to beat relegation.
“We have put the SC Villa result behind and we are now focused on the next game as we aim for maximum points so as we can achieve our targets of moving out of the relegation zone,” Kiwanuka added.
Police FC who are also fighting relegation will target maximum points as they visit Bright Stars in Kavumba with an aim of completing a league double.
“We come into the game with an attitude of winning the game because we need the three points in order to come back on a winning run and gain the position we want,” said coach Abdallah Mubiru.
Police have collected just two points in their last three league games and come into this after a spirited comeback that saw the side recover from two down to draw with UPDF 2-2 at Lugogo.
