Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC registered a 3-1 win over Lady Doves to hand them a first defeat of the season in a FUFA Women Super league game held at Katushabe stadium, Masindi on Saturday.
Goals from Nakigozi Elizabeth, Latifah Nakasi and Catherine Nagadya ensured that the lubaga based side picked maximum points away from home to get off the mark.
Midfielder Riticia Nabbosa scored the only goal for Lady Doves as they lost on the day.
It was a spirited performance from Uganda Martyrs, who had lost their opener to She Corporates last Sunday.
Head coach Rogers Nkugwa made three changes from the previous game with Harima Kanyago, Catherine Nagadya and Sumaiyah Nalumu all in the starting team.
Playing away from home once again, Uganda Martyrs scored first in the 15th minute through Nakigozi and her goal was the only difference at half time.
In the second stanza, Nakasi doubled her side’s lead with three minutes past the hour mark. However, Nabbosa pulled on back for the hosts five minutes later, a goal that could only prove to be a consolation at the end of the day.
Later on in the 90th minute, Nagadya put the icing on the cake with the third to ensure that her side walked with all the three important points.
Victory ensured that Uganda Martyrs returned to winning ways and they now move to three points in the fourth place.
For Lady Doves, the defending Champions, they yet to show any character this season and must step up in the coming games. They are currently third from the bottom with only one point after two games.
In the other game of the day on Saturday, Hasifa Nassuna was once again the hero as her side UCU Lady Cardinals edged She Maroons 1-0 to move to the top of the table.
