Arua Hill new signing Stephen Kabuye has opened up about scoring on his debut and why he joined West Nile based Club Arua Hill.
The midfielder sealed his move to the Kongolo Boyz in the just concluded January transfer window joining from FUFA Big League side Kyeyune.
On his debut against Police FC last week on Saturday, Kabuye scored in the 31st minute to get off the mark as his side registered a 2-0 win over the Cops at home in Barifa, Arua City.
“I felt very good because it was my debut game and above all it was at home so scoring in front of the home fans was special,” Kabuye told the SportsNation.
By him joining Arua Hill, the creative midfielder was reuniting with his former coach, Charles Livingstone Mbabazi with whom he had worked with while at Kyetume FC and Mbarara City the previous seasons.
In their maiden top-flight league experience, Arua Hill have already established themselves as one of the big spenders in this new UPL season. They have recruited a number of experienced players, good fan base and recently unveiled Plascon paints as their new shirt sponsor.
And for Kabuye, these great developments at the club attracted him to join the Kongolo family as well as Mbabazi’s influence.
“The ambitions of the club, it’s organization and above all the coach who encouraged me so much. So these pushed me to join the club and also trying out from a new environment.”
Having scored his first at the club, Kabuye wants to keep improving so as to help his team to achieve it’s objectives.
“Helping my team to achieve it’s ambitions, targets and score now goals and my personal target is to help my teammates to improve by providing as many assists as possible, increasing my goal tally and be consistent.”
Arua Hill are currently sitted in the 5th position with 28 points and they will take a trip to Kitende as they face Vipers SC this Saturday.
With more league games coming up, Kabuye will be expected to form a core pillar of Livingstone Mbabazi’s midfield department with offensive play.
