Uganda Rugby 7s contingent has set off for South Africa where they will camp for the next two weeks in Stellenbosch.
This is the second training camp after the first which was held in January this year at Kings Park (Bweyogerere) and Kyadondo.
There is only one change from the squad – Black Pirates’ Timothy Kisiga paving way for Levis Ocen on the team.
Uganda is using the training camps in preparation for the 2022 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens Cup that will be hosted in Kampala due April 23-24 this year.
The Uganda Rugby Union is hopeful that these camps will help get the players in the right physical and Mental shape for the qualifiers tournament.
The Africa 7s that will attract 14 nations, including hosts Uganda, will double as qualifiers for the 2022 Rugby 7s World Cup (South Africa) and the Commonwealth games (Birmingham).
The camp in South Africa is one of the fruits from the URU’s partnership with the Stellenbosch Academy of Sports.
During the first camp, South Africa sent in their former captain Philip Snyman to Uganda to help with coaching techniques in preparing the Rugby Cranes 7s.
