Nelson Ssenkatuka was the start man as Bright Stars beat SC Villa in a Uganda Premier League game at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru.
Senkatuka scored a first half brace which ensured that Bright stars have now completed their first ever league double against SC Villa.
Goffin Oyirwoth pulled one back in the 69th minute, which is the first goal for SC Villa in the year 2022.
A dominat first half of the game saw Bright stars FC walk away with a two-goal lead at the break.
The Skipper put the visitors ahead from the spot in the 12th minute of the game after he was brought down by goalkeeper Martin Senkooto.
The visitors kept on pushing but they failed to capitalize on the mistakes in the Villa defence. Yasin Mugume was denied in the 31st minute of the game after a well laid cross from Ibrahim Kasinde who had beaten Gavin Kizito.
SC Villa backline failed to clear a long ball, giving a chance to Emmanuel Loki who set up Ssenkatuka for his second on the day as he doubled Bright stars lead in the 45th minute of the game.
SC Villa came back stronger and tried to control matters but lacked ruthlessness in front of goal.
Goffin Oyirwoth scored in the 69th minute of the game as he sent a powerful shot which beat goalkeeper Simon Tamale to find the back of the net.
Bright stars had a lot of work to do in their defence as they protected their lead to deny SC Villa who had picked up the rhythm in search for an equalising goal.
Bright Stars have now completed a league double against SC Villa. They won the first leg 1-0 in a game played at Kavumba recreational centre in Wakiso.
Bright stars move out of the relegation zone to sit 13th of the log with 15 points just a point above Onduparaka who drop to the 14th position with 14 points.
The Jogoos remain 11th with 17 points – Its a three point difference that separates them from the relegation zone.
*What Next – For Bright stars they will continue with their relegation battle as they host Police FC on Tuesday 15th at Kavumba.
The jogoos will travel to Bombo to face off with UPDF FC as they look forward to avoid dropping in the relegation zone.
