The 2021/22 FUFA Women Super League gets underway with four matches on Sunday at different venues.

The league, Women’s top flight in Uganda, will this time be played in a block league format and competed for by 10 teams who will face off on a home-and-away basis.

Last season, the league was played in a tournament format where the teams were divided into two groups of five at Njeru – Top two in each of the two groups reached the semis before Lady Doves beat UCU in the final.

But with relaxation on Covid19 SOPs, clubs have been given the green light to host their games and with no restriction on fans entrance.

Lady Doves will be hoping for a perfect start when they start their title defense at home to She Maroons in Masindi.

Newcomers Rines face Tooro Queens at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium among other fixtures on Sunday.

Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim match will not be played until Wednesday.

Fazila Ikwaput will once again be the star to watch after the Lady Doves striker scored eight goals last season to clinch both the top scorer and MVP gongs.

For winning the league last season, Lady Doves banked Sh12m while UCU and 3rd placed Uganda Martyrs settled for Sh7m and Sh5m in that order.

This year’s winner, just like last season, will earn a solo ticket to the Zonal Qualifiers of the CAF Women Champions League.

The Women Elite League, second tier, will tentatively kickoff on 14th February 2022.
