CSR at the Fore As SMACK League Returns Bigger, Better

All is set for the fifth season of the St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) League as the fun competition return after Covid19 hiatus.

Corporate Social Responsibility will once again be the main focus as the old students of St Mary’s College Kisubi seek to impact the society.

During the league launch on Friday at Legends, new league CEO Hillary Ainomugisha said that they want to continue using the league platform to “create sustainable development through several community initiatives.”

During the past seasons, they have partnered with Bless a Child Foundation, undertaken Blood Donation drives, supported Bat Valley Primary School and also provided sanitary pads in Northern Uganda.

“For this year, we want to impact on 5000 women and children, it’s our social obligation and we shall ensure this through different initiatives including partnering with Eco pads,” said Ainomugisha.

“This initiative was brought forward by Team Old casts and so we have decided to take it on.”

“We are also going to reach out to the school (SMACK) and identify students who are performing well but are struggling to meet fees and basic amenities and we will ensure that we support them in all ways we can.”

Season Five is Here – All You Need to Know

The SMACK League season five will get underway on January 30 at Legends with a Memorial Cup.

Ainomugisha explained that the cup will help them refresh and remember whether they can still play football.

Most important of all, they will also remember loved ones who lost their lives including Long Serving Games Master Kafumbe Kigozi.

The organisers have confirmed that 20 teams from 21 different cohorts of old boys will take part after the addition of The Knights (left school in 2017).

It will be held every fortnight until climax on 29th October 2022.

The SMACK League has been won by different teams with team Devils (1999-2004) winning the first two seasons, Window (1998-2003) winning season 3 and the current defending Champions Alks (2002-2007).

Ladies will also have Zumba Classes while all the attendees have been urged to come with Children as there will be a play centre for kids and modern games including XBox.

Partners including Legends, Soccernet, Uganda Breweries (Guinness) and Oregon Dental Care are on board. “We call upon the sponsors that have not yet come on board,” said CEO Ainomugisha.
