Stanbic Uganda Cup: FUFA Kicks Out Rusekere Growers After Kataka Petition

Rusekere Growers FC has been kicked out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, its official.

The Regional League side initially progressed to the round of 32 after a shock 1-0 win against Big league side Kataka FC on January 18, with Rocky Ayebale on target.

After a petition to FUFA by Kataka FC, Rusekere Growers FC has been found guilty of fielding ineligible players in their win at the Rusekere playground in Kabomu, Kabarole.

FUFA, in a statement, said that Rusekere Growers FC fielded nine players without validated FUFA licences!

“It is stated in the match reports and petition fielded by Kataka FC that during inspection of licenses, the team captain of Kataka found out that nine players had acquired forged licences. However on the advice of the match assessor, the match was played under protest and the forged licences were confiscated for investigating,” reads part of the document from FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel Chairman Deo Mutabazi.

The nine players to have acquired forged licences are Ayiganho Mahad, Ewau James, Ayebale Rocky, Murungi Fahim, Tusiime Godfrey, Tembo Alex, Ayebale Godfrey, Kwezi Patrick and Mambo Rashid.

The FUFA competitions rules and Regulations article 19(19) states that a club that fields in eligible players shall lose the match by forfeiture.

Kataka now progresses to the round of 32 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Mutabazi stated that the matter has been referred to the Ethics and Investigatory chamber in regard to the forgeries.
