•Ivory Coast (4)0-0(5) Egypt
•Mali (5)0-0(6) Equatorial Guinea
Man United defender Eric Bailly missed his penalty as Ivory Coast bundled out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in the hands of Egypt.
The match between the two Africa powerhouses ended goalless after 90 minutes and nothing could separate both sides in extra time to necessitate shootouts at Japoma Stadium.
Taking a third penalty for Ivory Coast, Bailly made a short run before his lazy shot was pushed on the crossbar by Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal with one hand.
Nicholas Pepe, Ibrahim Sangare, Maxwell Cornet and Wilfred Zaha converted for Ivory Coast.
Ahmed Sayed, Amr El Solia, Omar Kamal, Mohamed Abdelmonem and Mohammed Salah scored all the five penalties for Egypt.
The defeat means it end of the road for Ivory Coast who won the AFCON title in 1992 and 2015.
