Stanbic Uganda Cup: Iganga Young Ready For Calvary

Eastern Regional League side Iganga Young FC have expressed readiness as they prepare to face FUFA Big league side Calvary FC in thier Stanbic Uganda cup round of 64 tie at Ssaza grounds Iganga.

Iganga who reached the Round of 16 in 2015/16 season is “fully prepared” and looking forward to frustrate the Arua based side, as they look to repeat history.

“We have had good preparation and the team is in good shape, all players are injury free and all are prepared to take on the challenge. Its on record that whenever we represent the region we always go past the round of 32 like it was in 2015/16 season,” said CEO Iganga Young Elly Buyinza.

It should be noted that, in 2015/16 Iganga Young went as far as round of 16 before being knocked out on penalties (5-4) by Hope Doves FC at Wankulukuku.

Despite their poor form in the regional league, the hosts will bank on their good performance displayed in preliminary round matches to this stage

The side defeated both Bugiri De School 1-0, and Jinja Municipal Hippos 3-0 to book a spot at this stage.

On the other hand, the visitors are also ready to avoid an early scare.

They travelled with a total number of 17 players, leaving out only 7 who had school and those who given rest respectively.

Calvary Coach Geoffrey Akena revealed: “We came with 17 players,we arrived in Iganga yesterday morning, we are more than prepared and we’re taking this game serious because we also want to compete for the trophy”

Calvary FC, were last year knocked out by Police after suffering a heavy defeat of 5-1 at round of 32, played at Green light Stadium, Arua.
