The Uganda U20 women team will face Ghana in the FIFA world cup qualifiers at the St Mary’s stadium in Kitende on Saturday 22nd.
The head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi has a lot of confidence in his team after “having enough preparations” and he is eager to eliminate the Ghanians despite the experience they carry.
“We have prepared the team well for the game we are going to play on Saturday against Ghana. We have done everything that we needed for the team. The girls are in a good mood and we’ll motivated ready for the game,” Ayub Khalifa speaking ahead of the game.
He went on to thank the government and FUFA for allowing fans to rally behind the team as they target maximum points at home.
“I thank the government for allowing fans back into pitches and the FUFA president for giving out free tickets, this will motivate the team as Ghana must fall. Ghana has been their in the world cup but Uganda is my team and it’s what I want to focus at so that they perform.”
The team captain Fauzia Najjemba has belief in the squad and the preparations which the technical team has taken them through during the camp.
“As a captain, we are well prepared the coaches have given in their best and it’s now our part to do our very best. I really believe in the players thigh Ghana is not an easy team. We hope for the very best on Saturday as we thank the president for allowing fans to rally behind us.” Said Fauzia Najjemba.
Uganda will have a chance to face either Tanzania or Ethiopia in the last round of qualifiers if they eliminate Ghana in the double header. The return leg will be played in Accra two weeks from the first leg.
