Police FC will start their Stanbic Uganda Cup with a long trip to Bushenyi as they face hosts Bushenyi Veterans FC on Thursday at the Bushenyi Main Stadium.

The two sides will be meeting for the first time at the round of 64 as the 48th edition of the Uganda Cup continues.

The Abdallah Mubiru coached side finished at the semi final stage last season where they were eliminated by Vipers 2-0 at Njeru.

Ahead of the contest, Cops goalkeeper Tom Ikara says the team is well prepared and is hopeful they will reach the final stage this season.

“We are prepared and we want a win away from home since all the players are in good shape. We want to put a good performance this season so that we can rich the finals, Ikara told the club’s media.

On the other hand, the hosts will be targeting to hurt the Visitors when they welcome them at their home ground on Thursday.

Initially, Bushenyi Veterans had lost to Kigezi FC 2-0 during the Qualification phase.

However, Kigezi was disqualified for fielding two un eligible players by the FUFA Competitions panel to see Bushenyi book a place to the round of 64.

Against a non league side, Police FC who finished at the semi final stage last season will all go out in search for a perfect Start into this year’s competition.
