Sierra Leone twice came from down, including an injury time goal, to deny Ivory Coast maximum points in Group E match of the 2021 AFCON at the Japoma stadium in Douala.
Ivory Coast were on course for a hard fought 2-1 win before Alhadji Kamara benefited from a Bandare Sangare error to bundle home.
Kamara earlier scored either side of Sebastian Haller and Nicholas Pepe goals against Ivory Coast who saw Frank Kessie from the spot.
”I would have preferred to have the three points of victory to ensure our qualification in the second round this evening,” Pepe said after he was named Man of the match.
“Now we have to go and keep working to make a big game against a big team from Algeria. We have to put out a big performance because the objective is to finish first in the group.”
In the same group, Equatorial Guinea shocked Algeria to win 1-0!
The Ivorians top the group with four points while Sierra Leone sit third with two.
Ivory Coast face defending champions Algeria as Sierra Leone will battle it out with Equatorial Guinea on Thursday in what promises to be a tense finish.
