Kelechi Iheanacho scored a beauty as Nigeria edged seven-time winners Egypt in Group D match of Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon.
Iheanacho (Leicester) scored with a half volley beyond at the half hour mark for the only goal of the game.
“It was a challenge for me, and we put in a lot of effort and got the three points,” Iheanachowho was named man of the match stated.
“We are happy with that. We have to do more in the next two matches and hopefully we can win both.”
Led by Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian Pharaohs struggled the whole game and will need resuscitation in their next group games to avoid an early exit.
