StarTimes Uganda Launches ‘Affordable’ 2021 AFCON in Six Different Languages

StarTimes Uganda has vowed to give the fans a tremendous watching experience of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 33rd edition of the tournament that brings together top African nations, will take place from 9 January to 6 February 2022.

StarTimes Uganda has confirmed that they will broadcast all the games live from Cameroon, with English commentary and five other local languages.

The fans will get a chance to support their favourite African countries and Premier League stars like Mohammed Salah, Riyad Mahrez and Sadio Mane among others at the comfort of their Living rooms courtesy of StarTimes.

“Uganda has over 53 languages but we have decided to have a representation of languages from different regions across the country,” said StarTimes Uganda Marketing Director Isma Lule.

ST World Football and St Sports Premium will have the English commentary.

Other channels and respective languages are; Sanyuka TV (Luganda), Wan Luo TV (Luo), West Nile (Lugbara), Bunyoro (Runyoro Lutoro) and Magic Sport (Kinyarwanda).

Lule revealed that the theme for this year’s tournament is “AFCON For Everyone on StarTimes’ because everyone will enjoy the tournament on whichever bouquet.

“We have made it very affordable for every Ugandan,” Lule adds. “Our prices are lower if you compare with the rest of other pay tv companies.”

“To watch all the 52 games, one will be required to subscribe Sh28000 per month while Nova Bouquet customers (Sh14000 monthly) will watch 31 games only.

Lule also added the AFCON will also be accessible by mobile users (Smart Phones) via the StarTimes On App for just Sh16000 subscription anytime and anywhere.

Algeria are the defending champions, having won the 2019 edition while Egypt are record winners with 7 titles.

Hosts Cameroon open proceedings with Burkina Faso before Ethiopia and Cape Verde face off at Olembe Stadium in Yaounde on January 9.
