Masaza Cup: Buddu, Buwekula Through to Semifinals

Buddu and Buwekula became the first two sides to reach this year’s Semi finals at the ongoing Masaza Cup tournament in Njeru.

The two teams won their respective Quarter final games to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

In the first game of the day, Buwekula outclassed Buluuli with a 3-0 win on Monday afternoon.

First half goals from Ismail Tamubula, who scored a brace and one from captain Shafik Kakande ensured that Buwekula took care of Buluuli to reach the semi finals.

Buwekula, who have never won the Masaza Cup trophy will be eyeing the big prize this time round given the fact that they edging closer to the finish line.

Meanwhile, Buddu took care of Kyadondo by 2-1 in the other game of the day.

Geoffrey Gaganga and Bruno Bunyaga scored the two goals to see the 2016 winners advance to the next stage of this competition.

Patrick Oyeti, pulled one goal back late in the game for Kyadondo, who were just making a return to the contest after winning the appeal of Kibumba Kasirye Edrisa.

The first half saw a limited chances but Buddu kept on Knocking and it wasn’t a surprise when they got one before the interval.

In the 41st minute, Gaganga headed in home off a well delivered cross from Kavuma Marvin to put his side ahead.

At the restart of the second stanza, it was a closely contested affair as both sides failed to create clear cut chances.

However, it was Buddu who added on another goal in the 75th minute, through Bunyaga who took his tally to five goals in the tournament so far.

Later on with six minutes to play, Oyetti pulled one goal back, but his goal wasn’t enough to save the day.

Buddu, who finished second in the last edition will have all eyes on the bigger prize given the fact that they have one more step to the final stage.

The semi finals will be held this week on Thursday 23rd at the FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.
