Edward Golola On Why He Missed Tooro United Loss Against Vipers

Tooro United Coach Edward Golola has explained the reason for missing a return to St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende to face his former side Vipers.

Tooro United’s poor run of form continued on Saturday with a 1-0 to Vipers courtesy of a Caesar Manzoki strike in the second half.

Golola was not with the team which has since fueled more rumours of his resignation at the financially-hit side.

The gaffer left Tooro United team in Fort Portal about four days prior to the Vipers game.

In an exclusive interview with The-SportsNation, Golola said that he has not thrown in a towel but had to attend to an urgent family matter.

“My Son was arrested in Lungujja for going months without paying his rent so I had to leave Fort Portal to come back in Kampala,” Golola told The-SportsNation in a phone interview.

“And it has been a hectic process to get him out. They needed Sh300,000 and I had to look for that amount amidst the ongoing money challenges.”

Golola explained to The-SportsNation that his son was released on Police bond on Saturday at 1pm and by the time everything was done and settled, it was already approaching to 3pm and he could not make it from Lungujja to Kitende for the 3pm-kickoff game.

The-SportsNation had a talk with some of the Tooro United players who revealed that they were not aware of the coach’s whereabouts.

Its still believed however that Golola left Tooro United because of the ongoing financial struggles and club director Alice Namatovu has not done enough to come to the rescue.

Some feel that Golola never fancied a return to face his revered former team Vipers where he was last sacked on January 23 2020 after previous spells.

Golola has confirmed to this website that he will return to Tooro United as the side, rock-bottom with just 4 points, prepare to host Police FC on Tuesday.
