Bulemeezi Ssaza earned a perfect start into this year’s Masaza Cup following a 3-0 win over Kooki in their opener on Tuesday.
A brace from midfielder Oscar Ssesazi and one goal from Gabriel Eragu ensured that the Simon Peter Mugerwa coached side got off the mark.
The opening exchanges saw Bulemeezi have the biggest lions share of the ball as Kooki sat deep to catch them at the break.
However despite their dorminance, Bulemeezi had to wait until the 32nd minute to break the deadlock through Ssesazi, who saw his effort from a distance beat Kooki goalkeeper Izir Ssemuju to enter into the back of the net.
Seven minutes later, Eragu doubled his side’s lead to put them in a comfortable two goal lead before the break.
At the restart of the second half, Kooki who had already conceded two goals before the interval started the better side, dorminated play with Bulemeezi waiting to catch them on the break.
Kooki will rue missed chances on the day for as they looked blunt infront of goal.Substitute Ssebanobe shot wide when infront goal on two occasions before Isa Mugoya saw his effort saved for a corner.
For Bulemeezi, who were already two goals ahead remained composed and waited for their turn to kill off the game.
In the dying minutes, Ssesazi made it three, sealing his brace on the day to put the game far beyond Kooki’s reach.
Victory ensured that the 2019 got off the mark in style to earn ealry leadership of the Butikiro group.
For Kooki, they start the tournament on a wrong note and will have to pick maximum points to avoid ealry exit.
What Next- Bulemeezi will be up against Mawokota in their second game on Thursday while Kooki will face Ssese on the same day.
