Dr Tonny Livingstone Luggya is the new chairman for Betway KOBs Rugby Club.
Luggya beat Isaac Lutwama to the top seat after a controversial election process during the club’s AGM was held at Velocity Bar in Kyanja over the weekend.
The Electoral Committee announced a 84-all tie but after recount, Luggya edged the former chairman 83-84.
Dr Luggya is an Associate Professor in the Department of Department of Anesthesia and critical care, Makerere University.
The Namilyango College student, played for KOBs since 1997 and captained the side between 2012 to 2017.
Timothy Kabonero was also elected the new Vice Chairman while Brian Odongo and Vincent Otim were unopposed for secretary and treasurer seats respectively.
The new Executive will be at the helm for the next two years.
KOBs, the oldest Rugby club in the region, are this year’s National Rugby Premiership (15s) and Guinness 7s champions.
They will open the 15s defence against Impis on January 8 2022 at Legends.
