Ronald Ssebuguzi was first announced the winner for the Jinja Sexy Speed Rally last weekend rally but after looking into a petition filed in by Omar Mayanja, Ssebuguzi is second and Omar Mayanja the husband to FMU general secretary has now ascended to first position.
Few could have paid attention to this development since the fourth position driver Duncan “Kikankane” Mubiru was crowned 2020/2021 National rally champion with 420points.
In the Magamaga section, Mike Mukula junior, a son to former Minister Mike Mukula, blocked Omar Mayanja for some minutes and according to national competition rules any crew obstructed by any object is entitled to be compensated its time.
Though Omar Mayanja was claiming to have been obstructed for over five minutes par his onboard camera, it was realized that he had only dropped one minute and upon calculation, he had beaten Ronald Ssebuguzi to the Jinja rally title dubbed Sexy Speedy rally which was the final rally on the national rally championship calendar.
There was no change in other positioning hence Duncan remains the National rally champion as this is his first time for the Kalerwe based ‘arrogant’ driver to win this title.
In accumulating the 420 points, now the champion Duncan Mubiru won the Mbarara rally way back in 2020 (100points), the second round of the NRC that was organized by Eastern Motor Club, Duncan couldn’t cross the finish line in a rally won by Hassan Alwi.
The first event held in Ssembabula which was third round but the first event this year, Duncan Mubiru won it to claim more 100 points to leapfrog Fred Busuulwa who was leading by then.
In Kassanda, Duncan crossed finish line second to claim 80points from the event. During the fourth round held in Hoima, Duncan finished second behind Rajiv Ruparelia to take 80points again and the last round in Jinja Duncan finished fourth to bag the 60points.
According to George Ssemakula who navigated for Duncan in 2015 and 2017, Duncan started rallying in 2008.
