Joseph Cwinyaii Powers To Tusker Malt Amateur Open Triumph

Uganda’s Joseph Cwinyaai managed to clinch the 2021 Tusker Malt Uganda Golf Amateur Open tourney on Saturday.

The national team captain scored a combined total of 287 gross over four rounds at the par71 Entebbe golf course.

The handicap 2 golfer overturned a four-stroke deficit from leader John Lejirma in the final round that lived as advertised.

The Tooro Golf Club club member had an unprecedented par score 68 on day four to storm the summit for his maiden Amateur Open crown.

Joseph Cwinyaai stunned the field on the final day

Lejirma, with a total of 290 gross, came second just three strokes adrift of Cwinyaai. The Kenyan Railway Golf Club member won the title Last year.

It was a resilient performance from Cwinyaai who struggled in the opening round with 75 gross.

Zambian Chanda Bwembya who was second on the third day, finished fourth below Uganda’s Tom Jingo.

Cwinyaai caps a good year that also saw him win the Kitante Golf Open.
