Betway KOBs successfully defended their Guinness National Rugby 7s title on Sunday despite their final loss to Pirates in the Coronation circuit.
Pirates beat KOBs 14-07 in a pulsating final at Legends but the scoreline was not enough to topple the Blue Army from the summit that they have held since day one.
Timothy Kisiga and Alex Aturinda crossed over for the Bweyogerere based side while MVP Joseph Aredo put points on board for KOBs.
KOBs and Pirates end the season level on 121 but the former edge the title on points difference.
It has been a show of resilience from Pirates after winning the last three circuits in a season where KOBs set early pace with victories in Mileke, Gulu and Soroti Circuits.
KOBs who seal a season double having won the Rugby Premiership earlier this year, bags Sh2m courtesy of title sponsor Guinness.
Runners up Pirates takes home Sh2m while Heathens take Sh1m for finishing third.
It Has Been an Exciting Experience – UBL’s Elizabeth Mutamuliza
“It has really been exciting going around the different districts and take Rugby to different regions, it has been well working with the Union (Uganda Rugby Union) and I think we had a good partnership so far. It has been a very competitive tournament until the end. The fans have been exciting, they followed their teams across the country and it has been good to watch people enjoy their Guinness as well.
“I am looking forward for next year with more fans and we expect it to be bigger and better hope we will be opened finally and at least fans can expect a much better experience with Guinness.”
