SC Villa Beat 10-man Onduparaka For Second Win

Sc Villa came from a goal down to beat Onduparaka in a league game held at the FUFA Technical centre in Njeru on Friday evening.

Coming into this fixture, Villa had not picked any win since their first home victory against Police FC in their league opener.

They had lost to Wakiso Giants, drew with Express before losing to Bul FC in their first game at Njeru.

First half goals from midfielder Salim Abdallah and Isaac Ogwang ensured that the 16 time Champions got their first win at their new home venue in Njeru.

Captain Shaban Muhamad had earlier on put the Visitors ahead in the opening 10 minutes.

Onduparaka finished the game a man less after assistant Captain Rashid Okocha was sent off in the second stanza for a second bookable offence.

The Visitors started the better side, dorminated play and it wasn’t a surprise they scored first in the opening exchanges.

In the 9th minute, Baden Mujahid teed up Shaban who made no mistake to send a powerful shot past a helpless Villa goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige to put his side ahead.

There on, Villa regained momentum, showed character and composure to chase the game.

Before, they could have leveled matters moments later but Sadam Masereka missed with just a free header after being set up by Salim Abdallah.

Finally in the 25th minute, Villa broke the deadlock through exciting Midfielder Salim and it was a beauty. He played a one-two with Travis Mutyaba before looping over goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga who was off his lines.

With the game back to level, Villa launched various attacks and it wasn’t long that they scored the second on the day.

In the 38th minute, Isaac slotted in home after being set up by Salim in the area to send the Villa fans into wild celebrations at Njeru. His goal could later on turn to be the winner.

At the restart of the second half, captain Shaban Muhamad was taken off for Jarieko James and the arm band was handed to Rashid Okocha.

With two minutes past the hour mark, Onduparaka were reduced to ten men with Okocha being sent off for a foul on Villa’s youngster Mutyaba.

With Onduparaka a man less, the pair of Mutyaba Travis and Salim Abdallah bossed the middle of the park, with the two missing on various occassions to score more for the Joggos.

The only best chance for the visitors to restore parity came in the 77th minute but substitute Jarieko saw his long range effort kiss the cross bar.

In the closing stages, Onduparaka who were already a man less launched numerous attacks but Villa managed to hold on and bag the three points on the day.

Victory saw Villa return to winning ways and picked their second win in the season. They now move to seven points from as many games played .

For Onduparaka, they suffer their third defeat of the season and remain on eight points.

What Next- Sc Villa will be away to Mbarara City on Tuesday next week while Onduparaka FC will host Express in Arua on the same day.
