Nakalembe, despite a slow start on Day one, powered into the lead on day two when she scored a par 71 to lead by two strokes and later held onto her advantage on Saturday to clinch her maiden title.

The handicap four golfer shot 9 over par 222 (78, 71 & 73) to finish three strokes ahead of Mercy Nyanchama (Kenya).

Nakalembe ends Martha Babirye’s reign who had won the previous two editions in 2019 and 2020. Babirye finished a close third followed by pre tournament favourite Peace Kabasweke and early pace setter Meron Kyomugisha.

Nakalembe caps a good year in which she also retained the Entebbe Ladies Golf Open title for a seventh consecutive time.

The two-day Seniors Open also climaxed on Saturday with John Muchiri claiming the top prize thanks to his unprecendented score of 20 over par 162 (80, 82).
