Charles Lwanga scored twice late in the game as KCCA FC fought from a goal down to beat UPDF FC on match-day six of the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League season.
The Army side were on course for a stunning win before Lwanga happened with two goals in a space of four minutes, including a winner in added time at Lugogo.
The Visitors took an early lead when Frank Yiga raced on Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s through ball to poke home under an on-rushing Benjamin Ochan in the 4th minute of the game.
It was all KCCA FC from there after as they went all out for an equaliser.
Denis Iguma headed Julius Poloto’s corner onto the woodwork, Innocent Wafula was just wide of the mark while Gift Ali sent his free kick off the target.
Lwanga, on for Mato Rodgers in the 70th minute, equalised with a beautiful at the far post with three minute remaining on normal time.
The former SC Villa forward then got a winner with a ferocious low effort after a loose ball from outside the box.
It was a show of resilience from Morley Byekwaso’s charges who remain on top with 16 points after six games.
It’s the second defeat for UPDF FC who also squandered a one-goal lead in a 3-1 loss to URA FC in Ndejje.
