*South Africa Vs Uganda – 2pm
Uganda National Netball team, the She Cranes, will meet South Africa’s SPAR Proteas in their penultimate game of the 2021 Africa Netball Cup in Windhoek.
The fixture pits together the top two teams at the ongoing tournament – Both sides are unbeaten so far having won six matches from as many.
Uganda eased past Kenya 73-40 on Sunday, and their victory on Monday will set a good platform when they meet Malawi in the last game of the tournament on Tuesday while South Africa have Zambia on the same day.
Uganda, ranked number 7 in the world and third on the continent have their work cut out against Africa’s best and World’s number five in South Africa that is coached by Dorette Velodrome.
The Spar Proteas who are competing at the Africa Netball Cup for a sixth time, won the title in 2019 the last time it was staged to end Uganda’s two-year run.
They beat Uganda 50-47 in a closely contested affair at the Belleville Velodrome on their way to the 2019 championship.
Earlier this year, the two sides met thrice in the Spar Challenge Series hosted by South Africa – The Hosts beat Uganda on all three occasions in March (49-34, 43-36 and 44-32).
Coach Fred Mugerwa will bank on the quality of Stella Oyella (GS), and the experience of Joan Nampungu (GD), Lillian Ajio (WD) and Ruth Meeme (C) to cause an upset in what looks like a winner-takes-it-all contest.
