Bright Stars Sack Head Coach Mbowa

Uganda Premier League side Bright Stars FC have parted ways with head coach Baker Mbowa, The-SportsNation can confirm.

The club, per the letter seen by this website, says that the decision was reached due to “results and performances not being at level required.”

Assistant coach Simon Peter Mugerwa will take charge as the interim coach.

Bright Stars sit second from the bottom having collected just a point from four games this season.

Bright Stars becomes the second UPL club to part ways with their coach after Wakiso Giants who saw Douglas Bamweyana resign.

Cruel Decision by Management?

It is a cruel decision by Bright Stars FC management against a coach who helped them finish fifth last term, which is their best ever league placement.

They lost two key players in Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte (Arua Hill) and Joseph Akandwanaho (Express) and the replacements are yet to hit the ground running.

However, the management will feel that the decision was taken as an early precaution in what promises to be a difficult season.

Mbowa, appointed on August 14 2020 on a three-year deal, was recently fined by FUFA Disciplinary committee for breach of the Ethics Code.

He was asked to pay Sh1m for his “the referee was biased” comments during the post match interview after a league game against Gaddafi.
