Varsity 3×3: UCU Bags Gold As Uganda Universities Flourish In Kenya

Uganda Christian University continued to show that they are a Basketball Powerhouse after both their Men and Women’s basketball teams won gold at the 4th Afro-Varsity Basketball 3×3 Challenge in Nairobi, Kenya.

UCU Lady Canons played Institut Superior d’Entrepreneurship et de Gestion of Senegal, beating the side 20-12 in the finals.

The UCU women’s team had Rose Akon, Priscilla Abbey, Shakirah Nanvubya and Nandutu Martha.

The team registered a 100% winning ratio with a 16.7 point average (per game) in all the 6 games played at the tournament.

Makerere University women’s team, MUK Sparks, was knocked out by UCU at semi-finals before they settled for 3rd place after beating University of Rwanda in a Bronze match.

Uganda Christian University men’s team, the UCU Canons, beat defending champions Ndejje University in finals 21-8.

UCU averaged 20.3 points (per game) with a 100% winning ratio of the 6 games played.

The team had Titus Lual, David Deng Kongor, Fayed Baale and Rogers Dauna.

Both UCU teams have qualified for the 6th edition of the FISU University 3×3 World Cup games in Xiamen, China from the 20th to 23rd October, 2022.

The top three women’s teams are Uganda Christian University, Institut Superior d’Entrepreneurship et de Gestion Senegal, and Makerere University.

The top three men’s teams are Uganda Christian University, Ndejje University, and University of Zambia.
