Cricket U19 World Cup: Uganda Handed Tough Group

Uganda has been pitted in a tough Group after the draws for the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup were held.

The Baby Cricket Cranes are in group B alongside record winners India and other two test-playing nations South Africa and Ireland.

India who were 2020 beaten finalists, have won the title a record four times (2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018).

2014 winners South Africa were twice beaten on finals while Ireland have played at 10 U19 World Cups!

Uganda will be playing at their 3rd U19 World Cup having qualified as winners of the Africa regional qualifieratlast month.

Uganda featured at the 2004 and 2006 editions in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka respectively, falling at group stages on both occassions.

The World Cup will be held in West Indies from next year from January 3rd to February 4th.

Uganda Cricket Association has confirmed that the team will have a preparatory tour for the build-up in India scheduled for Nov 19th – Dec 9th.

The team will visit Sanjay Farm from 19th to 25th November, with the hosts organizing a specialist batting coach from the West Indies for the youngsters, they will switch base to Omtex ICWC academy from Nov 26th to Dec 9th before returning back home.
