Ssenkatuka on Target As Bright Stars End KCCA FC Run

Police 1-2 Express
Vipers 1-0 Onduparaka
Arua Hill 3-2 URA FC
UPDF 2-2 Gaddafi FC

Nelson Senkatuka was on target as Bright Stars managed to pick their first point of the season and halt KCCA FC’s 100% start.

Going to Kavumba Recreation Ground on Tuesday, KCCA FC had won their four opening league games.

Senkatuka, who made a return this season to the Japanese-owned club, put the hosts into the lead in the second half against his former side.

But Ashraf Mugume levelled matters for the Visitors.

Coming into this game, Bright Stars had lost all their three opening games and they did just enough to pick their first point on the road.

However, the Visitors started the better side on the day as they had the lion’s share of the ball in the opening exchanges.

They had chances to score first but missed on various occasions. First Sadat Anaku shot wide when on goal in the 15th minute before Brian Kasirye’s effort rattled the woodwork moments later.

For the hosts, they had a penalty appeal after John Revita seemed to have handled the ball in the area but centre referee Mashood Ssali turned down the decision.

At the stroke of half-time, KCCA will have skipper and goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan to thank after he pulled out a masterclass save to deny the hosts from a rebound after initially saving Senkatuka’s free kick.

With five minutes into the second stanza, Senkatuka broke the deadlock to give the hosts the lead, taking his tally this Season to two goals having scored his first away to Mbarara in the opener.

However, the lead only lasted for 12 minutes as in form Mugume leveled matters, scoring with a curler just outside the area.

There on, nothing could separate the two sides as they held on to share points on the day.

KCCA move to 13 points and remain on top of the log but as well drop their first points of the season.

What Next – After the international break, KCCA FC will host UPDF on Friday November 19th next week while Bright Stars will be away to Busoga United the following day.
