Uganda Cricket Cranes beat Seychelles and confirmed their place at next month’s T20 World Cup Regional Finals in Kigali.

It has been an impressive performance for Uganda all through to win the 2021/22 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier Group A.

Uganda came into the last Group A game needing to avoid at least a loss of more than 190 runs, and all fears were ended when Captain Deus Muhumuza won the toss.

Despite losing Saud Islam for 24 runs, Simon Sessazi (32) and Ronak Patel (41) found the right partnership as Uganda recovered from 24/1 to 65/2 before setting 164.

Nakrani continued his excellency with admirable figures of 5-8 while Gerard Mubiru picked a big wicket of Stephen Madusanka (Lbw) as the minnows chocked in the chase.

The victory, sixth from as many games, completely sealed Uganda’s place at the top of Group A with 12 points.

Uganda qualifies to the Regional finals where they will meet Nigeria and Kenya who qualified earlier thanks to their ranking.

The three teams will be joined by winner of Group A that start early next month with teams; Botswana, Cameroon, Mozambique, Sierra Leone and Tanzania.

Winner of the four-team Regional finals will qualify to the Global Qualifiers where each of the top two teams in both groups will qualify to the T20 World cup in Australia next year.
