Silverbacks forward Ishmail Wainright has kept his head high after he was waived by Toronto Raptors.
The 2019 NBA Champions confirmed parting ways with Wainright over the weekend.
The move meant that the NBA side opted to keep Sam Dekker and Isaac Bonga in the recently two vacant slots.
The harsh decision comes despite a strong showing for Wainright during the Summer League and Preseason games.
“First and foremost I just want to thank the entire front office, coaching staff, down to the trainers and medical staff with the Raptors for everything,” said Wainright.
“And to the fans, thank yall for the love and support. This is just the beginning. One door closes, another one will open.”

Wainright who signed with Raptors as a free agent in the summer had spent three seasons overseas in France and Germany leagues.
Born on September 12, 1994, Wainright who grew up in Kansas City opted to play for Uganda as a naturalised player.
He averaged 12.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists as Uganda finished sixth at the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket in Kigali.
