KCCA FC head coach Morley Byekwaso has urged his players not to get excited after their 3-0 victory against Wakiso Giants in their first game of season played at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
It was a perfect Start for Byekwaso who is in his first full season at the club after replacing Mike Mutebi on the role.
A goal each from Sadat Anaku, debutant Davis Kasirye and Ashraf Mugume handed Byekwaso’s side a bright Start as the club got off the mark in the new 2021/22 Uganda Premier League season.
While speaking after the final whistle, Byekwaso first expressed his happiness for the goals scored and admitted they had good preparations before the clash.
“I am happy for scoring three goals because we have managed to get through their high line playing style since we have had trainings session about that,” Byekwaso stated.
He added: “We struggled a bit in the first half, they were a better side but we shared the chances. However, we had a better concentration and we used our chances but if they had as well used their chances, it could be a different story.”
As they gear up for more games, the gaffer says they need to adapt to playing good football since they lacked that in their opening game of the season.
“We need to add on and play good football. In our culture as KCCA, something was lacking today but we expected that in our first game.”

This being their first game, despite the convincing victory, Byekwaso has called upon his players not to get excited but rather keep their feet on the ground.
He stated: “I don’t want our boys to get excited, I want them to keep their feet on the ground and we manage game by game so that we can be victorious this season. We have to be very consious and intelligent to know how to manage games infront of us because you can not win a league with only one game.”
Victory against the Purple Sharks ensured that Byekwaso’s Charges moved top of the league after only a single game played.
Last season, under the stewardship of then Interim coach Byekwaso, KCCA FC finished Fourth on the UPL log with 48 points after 27 games played.
And now having had a bright Start in the season, the gaffer will be hoping that his side keeps the momentum and consistency in more games to come in the season.
