*Onduparaka 1-1 UPDF
*Express 0-2 Arua Hill
*Mbarara City 3-1 Soltilo Bright Stars
Ivan Ahimbisibwe netted the opening goal of the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League season as UPDF FC and hosts Onduparaka FC shared spoils.
Ahimbisibwe, on his debut since joining from Nyamityobora, found the back of the net in the 27th minute to put the Army side in the lead at Greenlight stadium.
Brian Aheebwa scored 2020/21 first league goal at Kavumba as KCCA beat Bright Stars.
In Arua, Rashid Agau equalised for the Caterpillars to snatch a hard fought point.
All eyes were on Onduparaka’s new signing Muhammad Shaban who was making his much awaited return at the club.
He almost made his second debut count only to send volley wide off a Kateregga Abasi free-kick and later failed to beat goalkeeper Brian Bwete in the second half when he went free on goal.
After going down to Ahimbisibwe’s goal, Onduparaka who were forced into an early substitution when Dudu Ramathan replaced Allan Busobozi started to push harder.
Shaban released Rashid Okocha but he could only hit the side net.
What next for both sides – Onduparaka will travel to Kavumba Recreation Ground to face Soltilo Bright Stars on Friday 22nd October. UPDF will welcome Defending Champions Express at the Bombo Military Barracks Ground on Saturday 23rd October.
