Uganda Premier League secretariat has released a new league fixture for the 2021/22 season.
However, the latest fixture has seen SC Villa left out while Busoga United has been included after ommission from the initial draft.
“SC Villa does not have leadership. Governance is one of the requirements for club licensing. The club does not have a CEO and communication between the UPL and Club are made through the CEO,” said League manager Paul Kabaikaramu when contacted by The-SportsNation.
One of the major goals of FUFA club Licensing is to enforce good football governance by safeguarding the credibility and integrity of club competitions.
Villa’s trustees confirmed sacking CEO Shawn Mubiru and replaced him with Brenda Nambalirwa, the same person who petitioned court to stop the club elections.
In dramatic turn of events, FUFA suspended the new CEO for “taking football matters to courts of law.”
In the new fixture, Busoga United will open the campaign with a Jinja derby against newly promoted Gaddafi FC.
“For Busoga United, they appealed and by deadline which they had been given, the club had registered 16 players.”
