City Tyres Boosts 2021 All Africa Senior Badminton Championship

Mandela Group’s City Tyres, Uganda’s leading tyre Company, has supported the upcoming 2021 All Africa Senior Badminton Championship that will be held in Kampala due October 21-28.

In a press briefing held on Thursday at Mandela Sports Complex in Industrial Area, City Tyres Company handed over 30 trophies to the Uganda Badminton Association.

The City Tyres Marketing Manager, Herbert Bashasha, said that they will also be offering official uniforms for the officials and official backdrop in the playing arena at Lugogo.

“This is a big day for us,” started Uganda Badminton Association CEO Simon Mugabi. “We commend City Tyres for this kind heart. I have been on most continental championships bit no where have such accolades been given out.”

The Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) selected Uganda to host the 2021 All Africa Badminton Championships after South Africa pulled out.

Sixteen countries, including Nigeria and Egypt fresh from Olympics, will start arriving in Uganda next week.

Mugabi revealed: “This is big for Uganda. Having hosted an international tournament in January this year which was streamed live to the world, we were seen as an obvious choice to host this All Africa tournament.”

Team Uganda has been in non residential training and will be expected to enter camp this Sunday.

The tournament will have both Team and Individual events, with game categories include Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed doubles.
