ForteBet Real Stars Sports Awards have issued out eight accolades, their highest tally to date, during their monthly awarding ceremony on Monday at Route 256 in Lugogo, Kampala.
Among the Sports disciplines considered included LUDO after an eventful September for the game.
Awards Proprietor Isaac Mukasa said that they want to continue rewarding excellence to all Sports disciplines as they move to motivate and nurture talents.
Daudi Okello (Volleyball), Mathew Kisakye (Schools), Moses Kirumira (Ludo), Bobosi Byaruhanga (Football), Riazat Ali Sha (Cricket), Martin Masau (Athletics), Raid Kiyemba (Hockey) and Yasin Nasser (Motorsport) were the standout performers for the concluded month.
“This is a big milestone for me and the game of Ludo at large,” said Kirumira of Kireka Kisansa who beat Joanita Nakimbowa and Paul Kasumba.
“Ludo was taken to be a game of thugs but thank God we are being recognised and we are now sitting on the table of men. Its a good elevation.”
Bobosi who helped Vipers win Stanbic Uganda Cup, beat Steven Mukwala and U20 Women player Sumaya Komuntale to best footballer of the concluded month.
Yasin Nasser who was third at ARC Zambia event was unopposed for best Motorsport gong.
Daudi Okello beat National teammates Smith Okumu and George Aporu to best Volleyball player.
“I think they all deserved the award,” said Volleyball Cranes coach Shilla Omuriwe who helped Uganda finish fifth at African championship in Rwanda.
“Okello was top scorer at the tournament, Okumu was best setter while our captain Aporu also had good stats.”
Masau who won the 35th Haspa Hamburg Marathon, edged Winners of National Mountain Running Jacob Kiplimo and Annet Chelangat.
Basketball Youngster Mathew Kisakye who was part of Team Uganda Basketball 3×3 that won gold at U15 World School games, beat Jacinta Katushabe (400m gold) and Loice Chekwemoi (1500m gold) to the Best Schools athlete.
Riazat Ali Sha who was named Man of the Tournament as Uganda won the Tri Series against Kenya and Nigeria, edged Cricket Cranes teammates Simon Ssesazi and Frank Akankwasa.
