Ivan Irinimbabazi: Bright Stars Promote Midfielder to Senior Team

Uganda Premier League side Bright Stars have promoted Uganda Under-17 Midfielder Ivan Irinimbabazi to the senior team.

The towering defensive midfielder is said to have signed a long term employment contract at the club.

“We are delighted to announce that Uganda U-17 International midfielder, Ivan Irinimbabazi has signed a long term contract with SOLTILO Bright Stars,” reads a statement on the club’s media platforms.

Irinimbabazi has been part of Bright Stars junior team and featured in the FUFA Juniors league for the past seasons. He now joins youngsters goalkeeper Shamuran Kamya and defender Isa Bugembe who were recently promoted to the senior team.

He was part of the Uganda U-17 national team that won the 2019 CECAFA U-17 championship held in Rwanda. At the recent Masaza cup 2020, Irinimbabazi played for Busujju Ssaza side at the tournament that was held in Njeru.

The towering midfielder joins Striker Nelson Senkatuka, who rejoined the club on the transfer deadline day on Wednesday.

The long list of new entrants at the club include defender Dennis Kaka Omony, goalkeeper Emmanuel Derrick Were, Mathias Okwalinga, goalkeeper Hassan Matovu, Fiat Cleophas and Medi Kyeyune.

In the process, the club lost some of its Key players last season in Samuel Ssekamate who joined newbies Arua Hill, Joseph Akandwanaho to Express and goalkeeper Godwin Buule. The latest Player who departed the club is Left back Ronald Nkonge.
