Express FC Promotes Three Youngsters To Senior Team

Uganda Premier League champions Express FC have promoted three Youngsters to their senior team ahead of the 2021/22 season, The-SportsNation has learnt.

The promoted players are striker Hassan Mubiru, goalkeepers Henry Mwebe and David Lukwago.

Mubiru, who shares same names as club legend Hassan ‘Figo’ Mubiru, scored seven goals and made three assists for Express FC Junior team in the 2019/20 season.

Mwebe, just like Mubiru, won the CECAFA U17 Tourney where he was named the tournament’s golden glove award.

Lukwago, a promising goalkeeper, was born on 10 Sep 2004 and will be an understudy for Joel Mutakubwa, and the same can be said of Mwebe.

Express FC is yet to find success with their Junior players. Sadat Mugenyi, Kevin Ssekimbega, Derrick Lubega Mulumba and Desmond Kanene who were promoted last season failed to find a breakthrough in the first team.

The Red Eagles, back from Sudan after CAF Champions League elimination, have so far signed goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, Winger Joseph Akandwanaho (Bright Stars), loanee Nicholas Kasozi (Kyetume) and Deus Bukenya.
